Supplements

In addition to the text materials, the authors have accumulated several supplements that cover topics that may be of interest to our readers.  First, four chapters from previous editions were omitted from the most recent editions, but are still being used by several adopters.  We have provided these as supplemental chapters along with the associated datasets, syntax and outputs.  In this manner, users can still include these in their class topics or access them as supplementary materials as needed.

In addition to these chapters, the authors have developed several additional supplements covering basic topics that may be useful for students as background material.

We provide these materials for use as needed, but ask that any use outside of class provide the necessary citation or usage restrictions.

Supplemental Chapters

In preparation of the eighth edition, four chapters were omitted from the printed text and moved to online resources.  The techniques covered are:

  • Conjoint analysis
  • Correspondence analysis
  • Multidimensional scaling
  • Canonical correlation

These chapters have been professionally formatted for use as supplements to the text.  We have also provided the unique datasets, command syntax and outputs for these chapters to allow for their use just as was done in prior editions.  The four chapters and the associated material can be downloaded with the links below. We provide these materials for use as needed, but ask that any use outside of class provide the necessary citation or usage restrictions.

Supplements

In addition to the four chapters provided above, several supplements have been developed to address additional topics not covered in some editions of the textbook.  These include discussion of basic concepts underlying both general statistical principles as well as some foundations of SEM.  We also provided chapters from earlier editions addressing canonical correlation as well as advanced diagnostics used in regression analysis.

Basic Stats

  • Introduction to basic statistical concepts underlying a number of multivariate methods.

SEM Basics

  • Additional coverage of some basic concepts that are the foundations for structural equation modeling (SEM).

Canonical Correlation

  • An earlier version accompanying the sixth and earlier editions
  • A revised version for the seventh edition

Advanced Diagnostics for Multiple Regression

  • Discussion of advanced diagnostics for multiple regression based on analysis of residuals
